Use the same account here and in the app (Settings → Account). You don't need one for the taskbar itself.
What an account is for
Add-ons, starting with Recording & Transcription, are coming soon. When they arrive, anything you buy is tied to this account and unlocks in the app when you sign in there.
Feedback you send from the app while signed in includes your email, so replies can reach you.
